My son has been on oxybutynin er for 6 months. He has recently started having trouble voiding. It seems like his bladder is too relaxed. He is unable to urinate when he wants to, however he when his bladder gets very full he has a large urine accident. Is this a common side effect? How long will it take for the medication to wear off. ## Hello, Suzy! How are you? Yes, it is listed as a common side effect by the FDA, along with nausea, blurred vision and dehydration. I was prescribed oxybutynin 5 mg twice a day for incontinence. I had done bladder training, etc. all exacerbated by chronic pain from spinal stenosis. I had extremely dry mouth and throat and stomach pain, sometimes severe, which are "common" side effects. After two weeks my body was not adjusting. Stomach pains worse then had bright red bleeding in urine and on TP. Stopped taking Oxybutynin 2 days ago. Blood in urine mostly gone, urine still a little murky. Still have stomach pain when I eat (plain mild food, yogurt, applesauce). I want to know how long it takes for this med to get completely out of your body? I am having urinary tract infection and was given sulfameth/trimeth ds by my doctor. For the past 5 days I've been taking the same but I feel the more my pain is getting worst rather than feel some easing off. I have been taking Urimax 0.4 for some months now, but a new problem has started. After driving for roughly two hours or so or sitting for two hours or so, then as and when I stand up, my urge to urinate becomes intense and also there is some leakage of drops if I do not urinate urgently. I have been advised by my doctor to quit taking toviaz. How long will this medication stay in my system? ## I recently had a prostate biopsy. I've been taking anti biotics for an infection. This has gone on for 3 weeks. All this time I've had to urinat often. At nite it seems like every 10 to 15 minuets. My doctor gave me Toviaz to help.
